Daily Learning Objective: Students can decipher between theme and main idea.
Unit: Icarus
Standards:
Practice: Students will learn and take detailed notes about the Elements of Myth and Theme and how they are used to tell stories about human nature.
Apply: Students will complete the following journal entry: Think about your favorite fairy tale/story from your childhood. What was the theme of the story? Why is it your favorite? How do the events of the story help you determine the story's theme?
Wrap-up: If time left, students will sign up for tomorrow's Reader's Theater reading of "The Flight of Icarus."
